Soul Contracts
Ah, the infamous soulmates. That one, or more, people and life experiences where you feel in sync with them. The situation that brings the old and familiar, saturated with information just for you. Bound by the ancestral ties keeping you together, while connected to the universal web of everything.
Most have already heard about the universal ties from one soul to another; the signing of a promise to be there for each other, for specific reasons, but for how long? “It is simply impossible; Why would I pick that person?” is one of the most frequent questions I have heard in a lifetime of exploring and working with clients. We think of situations where we just “know” it is meant for us, only to go through an exhausting, heart-wrenching experience. If this is what you are experiencing, let’s look at the what, why, and who that rings a bell in your body.
What, Why, and Who of Soul Contracts
Some of you are saying right now, “Why would I pick a family that you don’t feel like you belong in?” Perhaps it is a location that you believe is destined for success, that inherently becomes annoying to them, or that you choose that person or situation. There is a reason for every experience, not only to learn lessons, but to go deep into remembering the hidden sacred knowledge.
The What, Why, and Who of soul contracts is probably one of the hardest lessons to learn due to the depth of why we are brought together. Often the confusion comes from the familiarity of past situations or people. Perhaps even asking, when will this all stop?
As we look at the soul contract, let’s step back a moment to recap the nature of these contracts, starting with an example showing the discovery of something that would seem to be out of this world, or perhaps supernatural. Not evil, but pure and of the highest form of human life experience.
There is an old saying, “Out of the mouths of babes.” It originates from the Bible verse Psalm 8:2 and is now often translated as: a child is born to speak the truth. As parents, we know those little babies say things that they should not know, yet are so right. That is why they are precious and seen as pure.
Actually, all of us are born to tell the truth. Up to around age 5, we all remember where we came from, freely sharing things that sound fictional, yet with a bit of introspection, we can see it’s true. Most people chalk it up to “They can’t possibly know” or “they are just being creative,” and still, something about what they share feels unnerving. It can’t be possible, or can it?
What would you do if your 4-year-old tells you they “picked you”?
Well, that’s what happened with this family in one casual afternoon. (*pseudo names are used to share this story)
Sally and her older sister, Taylor (a 12-year age gap), stayed together most of the time. On this particular day, they were both in the kitchen with Mom, spending a Sunday afternoon together.
While Mom and Taylor were elbows deep in flour and creative baking, laughing and giggling, they had no idea what was coming next. Sally was not just an observer sitting at the kitchen table; she began to share ancient sacred knowledge where that old saying was validated and true.
Out of the blue, Sally yelled, “That’s why I picked you, mommy.” Mom and Taylor looked at each other curiously and asked her to repeat what she’d just said. Sally told them, “I watched you from up there, and liked the way you were a mom to Taylor - so I picked you,” pointing to the ceiling. Taylor’s mouth dropped open as they both looked at Sally, who was proudly focused on her coloring. Mom asked a few questions to get clarity.
Over the next few minutes, the little one began to talk about something she said she watched happen years ago between Mom and Taylor. It must have been at least 6 years earlier, and the girls never discussed it after it happened. Sally kept giving details that felt too real and too deep.
Mom had heard something about picking our parents from a decade earlier, but nothing confirmed it until this moment.
Imagine we, as a soul, sit in the towering room filled with books. From floor to ceiling, one wall to the next, Books of Knowledge and Wisdom were packed neatly. Every piece of information we need to move from one realm of existence to another, and lessons to learn to advance the soul’s growth. After gathering ideas to expand, we move on to the planning stage. The destiny or mapping of what we, as a soul, are supposed to learn. This includes places that feel “right” for us, people for multiple reasons, and, most of all, how to live on earth as a happy human.
The Akashic Records
The Akashic Records room is a place we’ve all sat in before, and it holds everything about us as a soul across multiple incarnations and layers. As Sally said, she picked her mom, and it was sealed into all records. In this room, we decide what we will learn from this connection and what we will receive upon completion.
If you opened your record book, it would show you each of your past lives, the lessons learned, the year we arrive, the people we interact with, and our families and friends. It also shows the specific experiences that give us our life and soul purpose for the incarnation. There is no limit to what we choose, even our pets at specific times for specific reasons.
“I will pick a Golden Retriever to help me when that person leaves.”
Each of our relationships and experiences grows the soul one step closer to the Divine, but it does not feel that way until we take a new step. Only when we stop thinking like a human and look through the soul lens do we find the answers. Remember, you wrote it with a big feather pen, signed it, and now living it.
“The answer is already in you and must be found.”
Yes, we choose what will advance our souls. From birth through elementary lessons all the way up to a master’s degree and beyond. Yes, we do pick our parents, and as in Sally’s case, she determined Mom and Taylor as family. The details run deep, each filled with sacred knowledge that supports all three of their souls’ growth, not just laughing with flour dust floating around.
It is a highly fascinating exploration that can lead us to go deeper into why some pick unhealthy families and even violent relationships. I mean, really think about it. We choose to go through these traumas and joyful moments. That in itself was a big WOW for the three girls on that quiet Sunday afternoon.
Soul contracts are established as we “pick” our everything and everyone. Even the right dog showing up out of the blue, but becomes the healer and protector from things we have yet to see on the way. Each contract is bound tightly to ensure that we move into our souls purpose.
The lessons, teachings, and lifestyle are all included in a soul contract, even the expiration dates. The day we end the soul contract. As we dive in further, it just seems so odd that we would ever choose someone who hurts us or our loved ones, until we explore it further. They trigger our inner buttons to become aligned with our creator, leading back to that contract.
“I will do..., help..., receive... as per my agreement.”
Signs A Soul Contract Is Ending
Part of our ascending soul’s journey is remembering what was forgotten through social reprogramming, and it usually comes with ways to wake us up and remember who we are and where we come from. Whether through a painful or joyous situation, it is meant to clear out old past lifetimes where we stopped growing. It was written so it continues until each lifetime lived is complete and reconnects us directly to our creator.
Yet there is a point where we receive signals, signs, that a soul contract is ending. They creep in subtly or feel like a hot, heated sandstorm in the desert. Either way, here are signs you may be seeing and feeling.
Signs A Soul Contract Is Expiring
A part of your life, of your chapter, is ending. Your soul is now empowered once again. A refreshed cell or soul memory is activated, and it’s time to close that identity and start a new one. When this happens, you calibrate to align with the switch you wrote in your soul’s contract. You just know it. It’s not a feeling, but beyond that, a knowing.
What used to fulfill you feels done. You feel gratitude, but you don’t feel connected anymore. Your taste for those favorite foods, where you live, the way you live doesn’t fit anymore. The old identity you arrived with is recalibrating and can’t go back to the old ways.
“Thanks, but I am done with that; let’s move on.”
No more lessons are needed because you fulfilled what you signed in the contract. Your intuition, your gut, knows what you have to do to prevent getting locked in a looping cycle. If we choose not to take action, we are no longer in the “I’ve learned my lesson” phase, or we simply choose to stay there longer. Your heart pounds with excitement knowing it’s time to move forward.
The doors that were open for the old chapter begin to close. Methods we used before stop working, and it’s time to use what is behind the new soul’s contract. You feel this one deep in the heart chakra, in your core.
“I can’t go back - it doesn’t seem appealing anymore.”
You will begin to mourn over something, again familiar, but it can begin to fade away in your memory. Crying for some unknown reason. You’re happy; you’re ready. The soul cries out the lessons learned to release the binding, allowing the new contract in. Think of it like having one foot in the past, and one in the future.
There are more signs; however, these are the most prominent.
